City of Wilson offices, including the customer service business office and recreation centers, will be closed Tuesday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday.
Trash and recycling pickups normally scheduled for Tuesday will be picked up Wednesday, July 5. Any questions about environmental services may be answered at 399-2485.
Wilson Transit system will also be idled by the holiday, resuming its regular service on Wednesday, July 5.
Anyone wanting to pay a bill have three options Monday:
- Doing so online atWilsonNC.org;
- Using the automated system at 399-2200; or
- Leaving payments in the dropbox at the customer service center on Nash Street.
Customer service may be reached during business hours at 399-2200.
All emergency services will operate on normal schedules.
The city does not hold an Independence Day event.
The Wilson Tobs will hold a fireworks display at Wilson’s Fleming Stadium at the end of the game Tuesday night versus the Morehead City Marlins. First pitch will be at 6 p.m. Call 291-8627 for ticket information.
Area fire departments and the Wilson County Fair are sponsoring a 4th of July Celebration and BBQ cookoff at the Wilson County Fairgrounds, U.S. 301, on Tuesday, July 4, 2-10 p.m. The event will have free admission, rides and BBQ for sale, and a fireworks display after dark.
