Max and Della Fitz-Gerald, co-founders of For The Love Of Dogs, NC, are expected to be in civil court today. During an inspection, the NC Department of Ag said the Fitz-Geralds did not supply continuous water for the more than 100 dogs that live at the no kill shelter.
The state of NC fined the Fitz-Geralds $10,800 and are saying the Fitz-Geralds have violated NC law.
The Fitz-Geralds, who are represented by local attorney Will Farris, expect to hear Wednesday whether the case will be thrown out or if the fine and charges will stand.
Max Fitz-Gerald said no other shelter is inspected by the state. He said he asked for the inspections in order to be at the highest standard for the dogs he and his wife care for.
